If you use a copper gasket, buy a spray can of hylomar from a trade parts shop It's a pretty blue spray on sealer. It used to be made by Rollsroyce and I don't know of a solvent that removes it when dry.
Spray it on both sides, let it get sticky, do it three times and let it dry, then fit as normal.
No more leaky or blowen gaskets.
