I would try getting it fixed by LR as its only just out of warranty.

I'm a mechanical dunce so bare with me please.
2011 D4 with eDiff, 84k on the clock and 2 months out of warranty.
I haven't noticed any oil on the garage floor before so I assume the leak is new.
It looks to me like its coming from the RHS drive shaft seal??
Prognosis please....serious, expensive, urgent repair?
Cheers.
Mark

Thanks Graeme. Is it a big job?
Don't know if seals can easily be replaced, but R & R diff is about a 4 hr job including alignment. Mine was splattering slightly around one seal before I had it replaced ... But mine was a lot older and had done quite a few more km's so I hadn't really worried about it. Hope the seal can be replaced without too much bother. And as Graeme said, have a tilt at them about it as a warranty issue, that's not a fresh leak.
The oil volume in these is very low. I would fix it straight away, it should not be to big of a job.
Have the shop carefully check the vent to ensure it is not plugged, a common reason for seals going out. There were parts updated on early D3 models regarding this issue on the front.

Well, the dealer said no to a warranty repair so I've sent a plaintive email to LR. Fingers crossed my brand loyalty will count for something.

Read up on australian consumer law. Particularly if you bought it after jam 2011. A three year warranty does cut it if it is a major failure

Consumer law actually says if there ia a reasonable expectation that a component should last more than three years then you have a valid claim.
Manufacturers usually call it 'goodwill' but if push came to shove they know you would win in court.
LR are quite good with goodwill payments. If you have always used a dealer for service you should be ok with a claim.
