    Cam Belt - Crank Locking Pins

    I am going to have to change my TDV6 2.7 belts under the seven year rule.

    I have spotted this kit of locking pins on ebay

    [ame=http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Land-Rover-Jaguar-Engine-Timing-Tool-Kit-2-7-TDV6-5pcs-/231311392171?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item 35db3bbdab]Land Rover Jaguar Engine Timing Tool KIT 2 7 TDV6 5pcs | eBay[/ame]

    Is this all I need or is there more gear I will need.

    Maybe you need to ditch that old school "I" technology and get some decent Android stuff

    That's definitely all you need Garry. I'm not sure if you saw the thread on Disco3, but there were reports of some sets not quite fitting.

    And yes, getting quite cheesed off with the limitations of the iPad.

    Thanks Dave - yes I saw that comment and even emailed the preferred supplier of pins in the UK and he admitted that even he had to take a bit off the pins for them to fit.

    Cheers

    Yes, that is all I use Garry, and it seems they plated them too heavily or didn't allow for plating when initially machined, you will need to emery the OD of the rear locking pin to make it fit nicely.

    The Isuzu 110. Solid and as dependable as a rock, coming soon with auto box😊
    The Range Rover L322 4.4.TTDV8 ....probably won't bother with the remap..😈

    I must have been very lucky with my set, as they did fit absolutely perfectly. No adjustment required.

    Yes - I remember you mentioned that before so investigated further. These kits on ebay seem a lot cheaper than buying the pins individually from the preferred suppliers so am a bit wary.

    Cheers

    I've done quite a few jobs using these, no issues at all with the strength/ quality that I can say.

    I was one of the people who had troubles with them not fitting properly - I had to take approximately 1mm off the diameter of my auto crank locking pin before it would fit.

    Mine is the britpart kit. Other than that I had no further dramas and everything worked as expected. I was mainly worried about the small diameter end of the pin snapping under 800nm+ torque that is loaded on the crank when doing up and undoing the crank pulley bolt, but no problems encountered thankfully.
