If I could pick one up for 3.6 million Yen it'd be the first thing I do tomorrow after getting dressed.

That article is proof we are paying too much for 79 series.

    Definitely built for short-arses.

Try driving one of these things if you're 6 foot tall or better.

I had one as a hire vechicle for 3 months when I was managing a plant upgrade up north a while back. Most uncomfortable piece of crap I've ever driven. There's more room for the driver in the ute / trayback version - at least you can move the seat back in them - you can't in the wagon.

And the V8 diesel engine is gutless .................. even a Td5 will blow them away.

Solid ............ yes. But offroad capable - nothing special, there's plenty of others out there that will match or better it.
    Cheers .........

I can only agree 110% they are just rubbish thats all we have on our site and god they are just rough as hell and small inside!! The engine is pretty ordinary to i dunno about how much fuel they use as we just fill them up and don't care and living in a mining town I'm sick of hearing that V8 engine with every different exhaust combination around hahaha.

I can't believe the price of them crazy!

    "we" as in Australia Serg...

Surely you knew what I meant already

The 79 series is the closest Toyota to a Defender. In fact the LR has probably changed more from 1948-now as the toyota has from 1951 to now. They still use the same rear suspension and track width

Toyota 4x4 production predates LR - since the AK10 was built in 1941...
