CTEK MXS5.0, which setting to charge D3 battery

Hi all. Just got my CTEK MXS5.0 to maintain the battery in the D3. Soon to be setting up my Traxide USI-160 kit. What setting should I charge the current single, soon dual, battery on?

    Options are:
    Normal @ 14.4v/5a
    AGM @ 14.7v/5a

Also have a recondition option, 15.8v/1.5a, unsure if I should use that...

Main battery is at 12.07v 13hrs after last use.

    Thanks
    Regards, Will

    Hey Will,

I'm an MXS5.0 user myself. Normal (car) is pretty much the go to program for 90% of batteries. AGM (Absorbed Glass Mat) is used for the Optima style of battery, but can be used on normal lead acid batteries when charging in temps below -5c.

RECOND is great for aging batteries as it charges at a higher voltage with a low current. The idea is to 'boil' the battery acid (which stirs the fluid), bringing back some lost power. That said, this is very much a 'once every so often' program, and shouldn't be used regularly.

    Cheers
    David

I do pretty much as David says - I have an mxs5 and use normal mode for a single battery vehicles and agm mode for the disco (cranking and optima).

i have the mxs5.0 as well,i use AGM for the D4,hooked onto the main battery, the supplied plug and lead is connected permanently to this battery under the bonnet.
It pokes out of the side of the plastic cover so i don't have to keep taking the plastic battery cover off the battery.

Main battery is AGM,auxillary is Optima

    Thanks all.

Main battery now on float on normal setting, will leave on overnight and see how it starts in the morning, if there's any difference. I have bought this connector also, which when wired in and mounted will give a neat place to charge both batteries from.
