Gday All,


Went and seen this movie tonight and was pretty blown away by it. Its about Chris Kyle who is credited with being the most successful sniper in USA history. He does 4 tours of Iraq.


The movie is very graphic, plenty of blood and guts and reckon it will be a very controversial movie which will get a fair share of bad publicity. This type of movie appeals to me so I found it a fantastic story and the fact that its meant to be true account of his time as a navy seal , it is a real eye opener.


I wont say much, but the ending will blow you away.


For my money 9/10. Im off to buy the book tomorrow

By coincidence I have been reading a book by Sepp Allerbeger. He was the highest scoring German sniper in WWII. Pretty amazing story. Terrifying to think how brutal the Russian Front would have been.

I heard the JJJ review today. They made some very good points about the movie being too us-centric and ignoring the bigger picture of the war.

I haven't seen the film yet but have to say I am always amazed at how some media says too much US centric etc. I am 100% Australian centric myself but a fan of history. When I look at who could have been a super power I think more people should look at what could have been ...

It's a movie about one man's experience in Iraq, it's not a movie about the war in Iraq. And he was a US soldier, so it's from a US point of view. It's not a documentary and it's definitely not PC enough for easy consumption in our lobotomised society so the JJJ comments come as no surprise. They have responded how they feel they are expected to respond. They were never going to punch the air and say "man what a movie, that was great".

I thought there were enough Americans killed by the Syrian sniper to appease most critics, but maybe I under-estimated that.

Wow, Clint Eastwood did a good job meeting the expectations of his target audience I reckon. 9/10.

Considering it's a true story of a Navy SEAL (Chris Kyle played by Bradley Cooper see The A Team & The Hangover 1-3) and his personal experience, culminating in a sad and shocking death at the hand of a veteran he was trying to help, there's going to be an element of war in there...but it wasn't a war movie at all.

It's about 2hours & 20mins. Being a true story, it's very sad the way he died and the film made that point.

Interestingly in the credits there is reference to a legacy organisation where his wife Taya Kyle carries on Chris's dream to assist returning service personnel, first responders and their families, here is the link -
