    Wheel nuts

Hi all, are the wheel nuts on a D4 the same as those on a D2a (including the lock nuts)?

2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?

By design maybe, however *I* am yet to hear of a D3/D4 stud/nut failure..

Over engineering for engineering sake is nice but not necessary.

    Just for the record

The local LR indi that my brother uses,i don't use him, often gets tyre fitters coming in for studs and nuts for D3/4.

I have a D4 nut here that is very badly stretched. It was overtightened on my D4 by a tyre fitter

The clown didn't know the difference between ft/lbs and nm.

Looking at the nut it appears they are made to fail before the stud breaks.

But sometimes the stud will still break.

I also haven't heard any reports from anywhere else on this issue either, nothing on here either.

    That demonstrates 2 key points..

    1. Rattle guns are bloody powerful.
    2. You can't fix stupid

A majority of tyre fitters are clueless morons.
Only a few select shine above all others for care and quality service.

The GOE wheels need the standard LR nuts. I assume you are after a black version to replace the chromed nuts?

On the other topic of nuts, I had to change a tyre at Mount Augustus and couldn't remove one nut because the .5mm metal cover was destroyed by a tyre fitter and a socket wouldn't fit. One of the guys we were with had a cold chisel, which I used for at least 30 minutes and finally managed to destroy the thin cover and get a 1mm smaller impact socket to fit and get the nut off, despite the fact that I also damaged the nut underneath the thin metal while trying to remove it. A bit scary when you are about to leave camp in a very remote part of WA!

    nuts

    James,

I asked same question the other day and got a tip from Ian. See link below but be aware, they are expensive. I've decided the standard nuts look pretty good anyway...
