That sucks, ours has been flawless, love that car. Sounds like he got a bad one
Talked to my good mate still in Newman, his Rok has died and he's had enough. The vehicle was bought new 14 months ago and it started out well but at 9,000km's the engine had a melt down and was beyond repair,a new engine was fitted that then didn't run so back again,he has spent many trips from Newman to Perth and then the A/C died, the tranny was flashing high temps and his family was not happy without air in 46 degree temps.Anyway today he rang and the motor is running hot with oil in the coolant, the ARB canopy rear door has fallen off for the third time and one of the ABS sensors failed so VW wanted him to take it to Port Hedland to be repaired and for him to pick it up,he would have to fly to Perth then Hedland at his cost,$1000 so he said no so VW floated it but because of the cost have cancelled his 5 year warranty so he's taking it back and wants his money. The vehicle has only done 16,000km's and has spent more time not working than working, trouble is in Newman there is no vehicle support,Core Fleet have left so any issue's with any make or model means a 6hr drive for help. heard a few horror stories from vw owners, not what is expected from a so called quality car company
I think VW owners aren't like us landy owners, we expect things to stuff up![]()
If the Amarok in Australia are the made in Argentina I would not touch them.
The worker's morale is very low and loyalty to the company it is -0
To get a good one is like win the lotto.

I was talking to my local coffee roaster this morning. His Amarok has been at the dealer for a month with water in the engine. The Rok has 30,000km on it, is still under warranty, and has never been off-road.
He's not sure if it's a head gasket or EGR and the dealer won't even return his calls. His loaner vehicle is a HiLux.
It will be interesting to hear what Pat Callinan says when he gets back from WA because Pat is a regular at the coffee shop and Pat's driving an Amarok. When I spoke with Pat about them a couple of weeks back, he said he was very happy with the Rok.

One of the girls at work bought a new Amarok dual cab about 6 months ago. So far it has been back to the dealers 11 times to get stuff fixed. Some is to do with the vehicle itself and some is from the crappy job the dealer did fitting accessories. Needless to say she is not a happy camper.... figuratively and literally!
Well ours has done 100kk, never missed a beat! Would trust it more than the beloved green oval! Remember when all those td5's etc..spent time back at the dealers.
