With absolutely no disrespect to anyone with dark coloured wheels, I just don't get the "black wheels" fad. Have both the examples in Stray Dingo's post had the wheels painted black (rather than the standard anthracite grey finish)?
I'd like to see how the anthracite grey wheels look with a white vehicle though.
Has anyone had the GOE wheels resprayed say to an alloy colour similar to the factory wheels?
Cheers,
I agree with you Chris. It's not just the wheels either. The "black pack" fashion option, which also includes black grille, side vents in the guards and I think the door handles does absolutely nothing for me either, especially on a white D4.
I like the GOE rims (don't need to change myself as I already have 18" rims on mine), but if I was buying a set, would definitely be in the anthracite grey and not in black. They are also available in other colours at additional cost according to the GOE website.
But then, we all have our own personal preferences. I've seen the "black pack" on a dark red D4 and it looked great.
I've never really been a great fan of a colour coded white bulbar on a white D4 either - but when it's left painted black below the main channel of the bar such as on LandyAndy's and on an RRS I've seen on here, it looks much better and suits the vehicle well.
Cheers .........

						SubscriberColour:
You can buy tins of Performix Plasti Dip to colour the wheels.
Its a rubber coating material, and is removable. It works well on wheels. You can also spray things with it and it will waterproof them.
I think you'd need a few cans for the wheels. Annoyingly such cans cost $US7 in the USA, but out here, at say AutoBahn, they cost $45 or something like that.
But you can choose your colour .... although its not glossy.

SubscriberAbout supply of the wheels - how absolutely ridiculous that they are not in stock.
This world revolves around choosing something, and then doing it. To wait 6 to 8 weeks means I may not purchase. I'll just go and buy some Duratrac tyres and put up with it. But if I could get them in a week, I'd buy today. I am serious too ...
Why not appoint an Australian retailer, who'd stock some sets of wheels, and hence they'd be able to ship the wheels cheaply to any of their local stores? It's a no brainer for a retailer, as they'll sell new tyres at the same time as Disco etc buyers change wheels because smaller wheels means they'll also need new tyres. Deliveries to local stores are just Annual Overhead charges, are cheap anyway due to economies of scale - wheels just go along with other stocks supplied such as tyres and batteries a few times a week.
GOE:
I have ordered and paid for your guide book on Land Rovers.
Your site says it will take 6-8 weeks to deliver it to me.
The delivery cost is $9. For a small booklet.
Are you serious???
But lets be really serious here.
GOE:
Cut your profit margins
Appoint at least an East Coast retailer who will hold stock
Sell 10 times as many wheels
You'll make more money
And 3 litre Discovery and RRS drivers will be safer in the bush
And Discovery buyers won't be let down off road by a lack of tyre choice
Unfortunately a nice solution would be Land Rover but that would mean $1500 per wheel and it would not get approved until a year after the replacement Discovery comes along ...

SubscriberAnd finally on the wheels - its a shame there isn't a stronger wheel. There is a big market for two wheels off road trailers that weigh up to 2.5 tonne. Hence if there was a rated 18" wheel which would handle 1.25 tonne, the Discovery would be a much more viable bush tow vehicle.
Wow
Everyone's an expert on economics eh?
And just so I can correct it - could you point me to where it says there is a 6 ~ 8 week wait for the Terrain Response booklet? Obviously that's wrong.
Cheers,
Gordon
