    Alternator not charging after Burst pipe incident.

    Hi All,

    After the thermostat housing blew on my landy (cause was rust)
    Which is now fixed with an aluminium welded pipe.
    I start it up and runs well but alternator not charging....

    why....? why would this go at same time.!? ive cleaned connections, tightened belt...

    and get this Izuzu dealer quoted $2000!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Part number from all4x4s... 8941754481.

    Any help much appreciated.

    slip rings not making contact, sense wire connection gave up with the dousing/heat

    check for lose wires as well...

    There are other non-genuine alts that are available that cost a whole lot less than 2k. if you search around on here and in the part numbers sticky thread you'll be able to get one for a few hundred.

    Found one with extenal regulator and was $490 inc.. still alot of money but least landy back on road now.

    Was abit of a nightmare but thanks for help with sticky etc.

    Welded ali thermo housing up and cost $60
    fingers crosed no more bills for a while. skint

    There's a company (hc cargo) in Esbjerg, if I remember correctly, that makes rebuild kits (slip ring, voltage regulator, rectifier and bearings) for some alternators, so you may be able to rebuild your old unit and keep it for a spare. P?j p?j.
