    Rear Door Lock

    Hi Guys

My rear door lock doesn't want to play anymore. When I put the key in, it turns but doesn't lock or unlock, same when I move the little "thingie" on the interior.

Do I want to pull it apart and see if I can fix it or will twenty million bits fly out that I will never know how to put them back or do I just get a replacement lock?

    Thanks Ellen

Ellen the spring has jumped off or snapped . To fix It you do have to take the lock off , It is held together by rivets , by memory about 5 . they have to be drilled out . There very simple inside . you can buy kits to repair them on ebay uk including new rivet's . It's not a big job , just a bit fiddly , maybe some one can help you , you will need a drill +3/16 drill bit , a set of pop pliers , plus screw drivers . It worth thinkging about . A lot cheaper than a new lock , plus you still have to take the old lock ,to fit the new one !!.. Jim

I have the opposite. The central locking will not UNLOCK. The rear door on Puma 110, but will lock. Luckily using the key in the lock does unlock the rear door.

This happened to me, just pop off the trim and give it a belt with some silicone spray or the like around the locking mechanism. Worked so well I did it to all of the doors.

If you've been in dust - take the lock etc off the door and give it a good wash in water, then try it again. For something in the rear of a 4WD they sure don't like dust.
    (by my experience anyway)

Hi Ellen Something that I didn't mention , if you buy a new latch/lock , not sure If they come with , a new key . It's better if you dont have extra/ different key's !!.. Jim .

Hi Ellen, met you down thornlie shops the other day. I've had the same problem with my back door for a while now (read while = years). If you are not in a mad rush, I will look at getting a repair kit for mine and do mine as a test run and if all goes well am more than happy to help you get yours sorted. Unfortunately I am tied up for the next couple of weeks, but should have all the tools needed if you need to borrow anything in the meantime.
