Mine's latch is fine.
Hi,
Has anyone who has one of these fitted to their D3 have any comments regarding the latch/securing mechanism, as it is a different style to all others that are on the market - is the latch positive, rattle free and secure!
The carrier itself would appear to position the wheel a lot more central than other carriers that are available and therefore appear not to need extra lights (Brake and indicator).
Any feedback appreciated as I am deliberating on which wheel carrier to go for.
A Kaymar is out as I not up for the additional cost or weight!
Thanks

The latch on mine is also rattle free.
I also like the option that i can remove it when i am not doing a major trip.
Two minutes & its off sitting in the garage. (The wife loves that bit)

Thanks also for the heads up on the easy removal, my wife will also like that feature

I experimented with the clear Tape, I'll admit it's not perfect but works well enough to know what the beeps mean. Because it sticks out the rear a bit, you just need to check the first few times to gauge what the sensors are actually telling you.

SO,
With the camera it will be less of an issue???
When backing in my shed I get the couloured bars/noises,edge in slowly when it goes to the highest alert(red bars) then use the camera to park within 10mm of my camper trailer.Works so well I wouldnt ever park in frontwards.

I have the Frontrunner wheel carrier on my D4. The latch did rattle after a year, but this was simply a couple of loose fasteners which were easily tightened. I had always planned to remove the carrier when it is not needed, but I am so used to it I have left it on all the time. The rear sensor issue is easily resolved with a stick-on rubber furniture protection pad.
How does the clear tape / rubber pads cure the sensor issue? Are you sticking them on all the sensors, or just the closest one?

SubscriberHaven't tried the clear tape, but the rubber furniture pads can be used on the closest sensors. You can try a 1/2 moon shape first to see if it solves the problem. They are sensitive. Even a tyre cover sets mine off.
