I would suggest that this is a case of "brake light switch" failure.
The facts that you describe match what happened when my switch failed.

ps about $25 to replace from memory
Hi guys,
Could really use some help here, I have a 2006 Land Rover discovery III and at times when I put my foot on my brake I get a beep and an error message appear on the dash saying system fault and it lowers my suspension and turns all special programs off.
This may happen every day for a week but then not happen for several weeks.
If anyone could notify me if they have experienced this before and/or what advice I should seek and what the problem may be.
I would suggest that this is a case of "brake light switch" failure.
The facts that you describe match what happened when my switch failed.
