300tdi new injectors yes or no?

howdy all my next project is injectors my defender has 363,000ks
original injectors still, when I did the head gasket at 224,000ks I had the injectors cleaned and tested the shop said they were all working at about 75% efficiency, get a puff of black smoke on start up but none while driving had the pump only slightly tweaked when I put in the larger intercooler also run a egt gauge but it is in the engine pipe egts are good allowed for the gauge reading. question is should I replace the injectors at these ks
thanks for all the help cheers

Given that they were 75% 100 odd kms ago means they will not be improving. Tdi injectors are not cringingly expensive so I would replace.

FWIW I only replaced mine 8 months ago (325,000km) as I was doing the head gasket and found a cracked piston, otherwise it was still running fine.
Couldn't extract one injector out of the old head either, so glad I ordered a set.

The new head/pistons/injectors is definitely smoother, revs better, lower EGT's and boost for given conditions and better fuel economy by 1.5l/100km.

hi rick what would be the signs of a cracked piston also found a strange noise on start up only while winding over the starter stats pretty quick noise wasn't there before I put new vacuum pump in no noise when running
    cheers

None until I pulled the head, and the others looked brilliant.

Big ends were knackered though too, and had only been in for around 80-100,000km.
Luckily I dropped the caps and checked.

    Big end photo's here. http://www.aulro.com/afvb/2396438-post18.html
