It must have had a sheltered/pampered life as the roof pillars haven't rusted thru.

    Ahhh... the old iron pig.
Big rust problems I've heard, and also love to roll over in mud, so it does look like it's been pampered

For an old truck, I reckon an old toyota like this or an international scout would be a mad ride.

    Full of bog????
Had a couple of mates with them in the 80's,theirs had holes in the roof you could put your hands in back then.
It must have been sheded and kept away from salt.Back then they were quite comfortable and powerful,if you could keep the fuel up to them. Both mates had 4BBL holleys on theirs.AWESOME on the beach, fishing weekends away were expensive as we dibbed in for the fuel between us.
My first 4x4 was a 73 shorty forty softop with a 350 chev,it didnt use any where near the fuel them blokes used.I could only carry 1 passenger, going 1/2 in the fuel was less than going 1/4 in them buggers!!!! Still was expensive when stuff broke!!!! My Bro got a yellow sticker on it during the Americas Cup.Had 1 bloke in the front,4 in the back sitting on the sides, dropped the clutch on South tce, stood it up on the back wheels which was easily done and spilt the 4 in the back on the road,in front of mounted police.Once the sticker and clutch were fixed I sold it.
    Then I got a Ser2 88" with a 186,now that was an awesome 4x4

There something about the FJ55's (not the rust obviously) that really appeals to me.

There used to be a mob around Redcliffe that may fibreglass replacement panels. The lack of FJ55's around the place seems to have put an end to that.

In an ideal world I'd put one of these bodies on a RR chassis and running gear - then when all the Toyota fan boys start cheering its performance - reveal the beautiful truth !
It's not broken. It's "Carbon Neutral".

My first 4WD - replaced by the '83 Rangie.

The roof rusted out just above the gutters. It had been bogged up and resprayed and I was naive about Cruisers.

    There was rust elsewhere, too.

The 55 died in a river crossing.
