The easiest way to tell is to look at the diff from behind the vehicle and see what side plate / cover is fitted on its left side - flat or bulging. The main casing is identical for both.
New Disco 4 owner. How can I tell if my 2010 TDV6 SE (3L) has been optioned with locking diff? I assume there is a button somewhere.

Yeah but how do you turn the locker on and off.... Surely there is a switch somewhere in the cabin that activates it, which I assume would be a dead giveaway that it is fitted, or not.
No buttons. Not driver selectable for either the centre diff or the rear e-diff, if you have it.
If you've just got the D4 recently, I highly recommend the FAQs sticky thread on the forum here. It covers a lot of great stuff including a bit on the diffs.

Also, if you register with Topix then the VIN can be used to show the build information and options included.

Have a look on the 4X4 screen. Does it show the rear diff with similar green segments as the centre diff?
This is only relevant for newer cars where LR deleted the diff lock symbol from the 4x4 info screen for cars that did not have it -- 2013 on I think. For 2010 - 2012 the green symbol is there regardless of whether or not you have the ediff, the only way to tell if the ediff is installed, via the 4x4 info screen, is to put the car into a situation where it has to activate the ediff to see if the symbol turns red (locked). If you don't have the touch screen you have to visually ID the diff or check on topix.

Also, if you get a chance, grab a copy of Gordon's training manual (GGHaggis on AULRO) which you will find invaluable and covers this in detail. I can highly recommend his driver training course as well. If you haven't been exposed to late model Land Rovers and are coming across from other makes of cars, it will require a different style of driving on your part to get the most out of your new baby. Either way, enjoy!
Hi. Having problems with the TOPIx registration and logon.
Any chance someone who has access can PM me and check my VIN for me, and send specs through please.
