Testing for an engine miss County 3.5 V8

I have a miss on one cylinder. So my plan is to start the car, then pull leads off the distributor one by one until I find the one that makes no difference.

Only problem is, I suspect I will get xx thousand volts in my arm, or is there a way around this?

(Irridium olugs are 26Km old, and leads are about 30km old)

Either use pliers with rubber handles , and or some dry cloth around the fingers , although pliers are better.
It is probably less confusing to pull the leads from the plugs rather than the dizzy.

If you have sufficiently loose distributor boots on your ignition leads, pull them back far enough so that you can short them out with a well earthed length of ordinary electrical wire (clamp one end to the block or body with vice grips). This also lets you gauge the relative strength of spark available at each lead and prevents flashover inside the cap causing permanent damage to it. Pulling leads off a high energy ignition system is generally not a good idea.
