    Joining the permagrin dilemma!

    Hi all
After years of dreaming, I'm hoping to get into a D4 after 16 years of D 1&2 ownership Joining the permagrin dilemma!Joining the permagrin dilemma!
So I have been speaking to a dealer and they have 2 white TDV6's in stock. Both have:
    Leather, 7 seats
    Tech pack
    Rear air
    DAB
    meridian sound
    Xenon and LED Signature lights

Then 1 has blind spot monitor and powerfold mirrors (build date 10/15), the other has e-diff (build 1/15). Both compliance 1/16.

I have always wanted one with ediff and thought I would get that for towing and off roading. Although I don't do too much serious stuff anyway.
So I was thinking I should maybe go the other with blind spot etc for the safety factor. Price diff is only approx $500.

My other thought was getting the SDV6 and seeing if there were any around without too many options and try for my budget of low 80's. Even if it's a very low km demo model or 2nd hand. (The TD's are low $80's)
So any opinions or thoughts??Joining the permagrin dilemma!

    Dave.

Sdv6 is so sweet! Not much blindspot with the big mirrors set correctly. And lots of vision

I would go the E Diff over the folding mirrors /blindspot monitor.
The mirrors are good, blindspots arent really an issue.
Gordon(Green Oval Experience) says we dont need the E-Diff compared to a D3 due to much better electronics in the terrain response and bigger brakes, however it has bigger bearings that will suit for towing.I wanted E-Diff,wasnt available in the dealer stock/LRA deal I bought mine in.

Dont be shy of the TDV6 over SDV6.
I too came from D2 to D4.My TD5 D2 was chipped/big intercooler/big exhaust. It doesnt come close to the TDV6 Once out of warranty its easy to match or exceed the SDV6
It still has plenty of go towing a 1.5T+ trailer.Recently I had an ex D2 V8 passenger whilst towing my heavy camper trailer,I nailed it to go around a struggling toyomobile towing a camper trailer up a steep hill. His comment was my D2 wouldnt accelerate like that without the trailer

I know, but just the thought of 600nm's, mmmmmJoining the permagrin dilemma! lol
I might ring a few dealers and see what they have and pricing. The thought of a TD with options like the DAB etc does excite me haha
I wasn't that interested in the rear air because of the space it takes up but it may be a "nice to have"
I also like the thought of electric seats for comfort and the arm rests. Out of interest, do people that have them, do you use them and are they worthwhile?

I don't know where you live but be aware that DAB only works in capital cities. Having said that once you have heard digital radio you'll never go back. I also have the ediff in a TDV6 and I reckon in 5-10 years time it will be a sort after item when it comes time to sell.

Comfy electric seats don't know what the manual seats are like but there is a thread on here about them - search for electric vs manual

Folding mirrors are no big deal, in fact mine are starting to look and sound a bit tired. Plus as others have said vision out of the mirrors is excellent, no need for the warning system.

An e-diff if available would be my preference, they also come with stronger axles.

Regarding rear air, personally I think it is a must if you ever intend to have all the seats used.

Electric captains chairs are one of the best things you can have in your Disco. They really improve the driving and comfort experience.

My short preferred list of both standard and options in any Disco if I was buying new would be, rear air, captains chairs, upgraded top of line stereo, adaptive bi xenon headlights, centre consol fridge and e diff, these features both our D3 and D4 have.

It's easy though to get carried away and start ticking options lists. The V8 D4 also comes with every option LR offer including not only what's listed above but TV and DVD player, surround camera's, sun roofs, heated seats and screen, folding mirrors, keyless entry and lots of other stuff I can't remember and while nice to have hardly ever get used and personally I wouldn't waste my money on them if buying new.
    Cheers,
    Terry

Would it be an option to get the one with e-diff and in a year or two - when there are some at wreckers, retrofit the folding mirrors?

The e-diff will make it easier to sell. Doubt you can retrofit the folding mirrors but when they fail more money to fix.

2015 D4 probably the most amazing yet, why get a RR?
