 PTO compressor?
 PTO compressor?
		Hi,
Recently come across a compressor that the owner claims is a Land Rover accessory. It has a drive cog that slides on a shaft with a selector fork that protrudes side on from a housing. The side it protrudes from has a pretty standard looking six-bolt flange, two bolts parallel and one top and bottom.
The compressor itself is a finned cylinder. Whole thing looks a grease covered Bronze Green but maybe Land Roved green.
Does something like this bolt straight to the transfer case? Or to a PTO box?
Anyone got links to any pics? I haven't picked it up yet, just at the research stage!

I don't think early landrovers have six bolt rectangular ptos on the side of the transmission.
Some military medium trucks did.
Ww2 Blitz
1950s Humber one ton
Both could be had with the compressor described.

I looked at this too, Dave.
From what I can work out it's a Smith's Maxfield tyre pump, as was fitted to many British trucks and Austin Gypsy 4x4 in 50s and 60s. Can't find any reference to it being used on a Landy.
Interesting gadget though - if I lived closer I'd be tempted.
