    D4 deals? D4 vs D5?

    Hi All,

Currently saving the had earned to purchase a d4 later this year. Wish list was a tdv6 with 7 seats, leather, xenon, rear air and technology pack. Back when 'the main event' was on you could pick one up on the forecourt in the low 80Ks. Looking at the car sales website today (WA) it appears a MY16.5 with these features will set you back from 90K plus! What gives? Does anyone actually pay that price for the tdv6?! Seems at that price point you'd start looking at the more powerful option? I understand the 'main event' was a deal but does anyone actually buy when there are no offers on?
Anyway from everyone's knowledge am I likely to see any new offer from the EOFY? What deals/offers can I expect to see during the year as I'm trying to time my purchase to get the best deal?

Another thing - am I entering the game too late as the d4 is on the way out and the d5 on the way in?(albeit another 18 months time for us!) Should I wait it out for a new model with new tech (and potentially new problems) or stick with the proven performer? ( apparently showing its age now according to journos). Thoughts, opinions, pros, cons? Would appreciate anyone's thoughts....
    Thanks!

Carsales is an advert to the masses. Once you have the money you wish to spend then walking in the door of people's showrooms will give you different prices.

Society tells us newest is best but there is a lot to be said for tried, tested and working well - as numerous new buyers on the forum will attest to.

Personally in your position I would stick to the vehicle you have already identified and I think that once you are ready to knock on doors as a 'definite buyer', you will find offers better than you are seeing advertised currently to 'possible buyers'.

    All the best with it.

See southern landrovers website, they have a stock list.
Our Cars, Cannington - Southern Land Rover

I once tried to link before if the above doesnt work, visit their website and find the stock inventory.
I think you will get better pricing than the drive away prices listed.
    See how you go.

    Referring to your second paragraph,

I have been thinking about this as well,as mine should really be replaced, being a company vehicle, but we haven't done many k's,and we love it.And it is sorted how we want it,17" rims, etc.

The D4 is very well tried and tested, and a fantastic vehicle. It has evolved very well, been improved in many areas, and is way ahead of anything else in its class, and extremely reliable.

The D5 is unknown.A bit like the new Defender

    I never buy the first of any model,whatever brand,so i wouldn't buy a D5 for a year or two.

The other thing is resale,in say 5 yrs time,a D5 will be worth a lot more than a D4,although a D5 will probably cost more.

Bottom line,i will more than likely hang on to the D4 i have

    Just my 2cents worth

I bought one of the last D3s off the boat in 2009. It has been an exceptionally good vehicle and I got a good deal on it. There is a lot to be said for buying the end of a long model run which has had the kinks worked out. Having said that you need the discount because when the new model arrives it will definitely accelerate your depreciation the minute it arrives.

Im with Paul and Andrew, the last of the D4s will be a very well sorted machine. The D5 will be all new,so there is always the risk of teething issues.
Then there is the wait for bullbars/racks/fuel tanks etc etc etc.

In fact, the D2a was and still is worth good $$$.
They were by far the best of the D2's.

So maybe the last of the D4's will be the same.

It depends also on technology. If the lighter D5,with the new engines, uses heaps less fuel than the D4,that could change everything.

So its up to your gut feeling.

As 2 cent coins are no longer in circulation I am more than happy to offer 5 cents if you wish to sell your D4...

Just recently, we bought our 2015 D4 SDV6 SE MY16 for $85k driveaway, as it was a demo with 3800kms on it. So definitely shop around and do your research first. The best deals are going to be the cars they have in stock, as they want to get rid of them and will do deals, to get the sale. Also, know what options you want and which ones you definitely must have. Good luck
