    Perentie Registration/compliance

I know I'm being the devils advocate here.

My brother in law is a vehicle compliance inspector here in Vic.
I just had a lengthy discussion about all the "non compliant" Perenties & Unimogs ( & Mack Trucks) over lunch yesterday.
The long & short of it I'm thinking there will be an "overhaul" of previous approvals, at least that's what I was led to believe.
Apparently the argument that they have approved thousands already has led the authorities to question if due process has been followed !!

It makes you wonder - the vehicles have a compliance plate and they were built to the standards thereon.

It seemed to raise the ire of a few individuals that they were ever sold on the civilian market - there could be some obvious conclusions to be drawn about that.

But some with nothing better to do are still looking for something that they don't like ?

This has been discussed many times before, so here we go again.

Firstly, they were certified as compliant only with the ADR's listed on the plate at the time. So many didn't comply with the requirement for a steering lock, but you won't find the relevant ADR printed on the plate. Is this a fail? Not on mine because it has been retrofitted with an ignition/steering key lock.

On top of that some people are requiring the Perenties to comply with ADR that weren't introduced till a decade after the last Perentie was built, e.g. protrusions on bull-bars, so you can't retrospectively apply an ADR.

You won't find me on: faceplant; Scipe; Infragam; LumpedIn; ShapCnat or Twitting. I'm just not that interesting.

No. The Perenties did not need to comply with ADR 25 except for the 4x4 Perenties manufactured from 1/7/92. That is why that ADR 25 does not appear on the compliance plate. It was not required to comply with that ADR.
Mind you, I have a steering lock on mine.
