Front recovery point cover replacement campaign

Had my MY16 D4 serviced today.

They replaced my front recovery point cover as part of a campaign.

I had told them when I booked the service that it wasn't sitting right.

They also checked the front washer jets.

Interestingly the signature lights on my right headlight do not come on when the headlights are on.
Apparently it is a wiring fault and there is no power going to them.
They have booked it in for replacement when a loan car is next available apparently it could take 5 minutes or two days to fix??

Very happy with service & willingness to fix things.

BTW saw a current model RRS with Cooper Zeon LTZs in 275 55 20 while I was there - looked great.
    Cheers

    Chuck

I'll ask too I think. Mine was lost in a longish muddy water crossing on the Cape but it never quite sat right before that. MY14. Having said that, it looks good without it anyway.

There is another thread here that refers to issues with the front recovery point cover and a the VIN range under which a warranty claim can be made. For the life of me I cannot find it.

Mine was just outside of this range, however had washed away in a river crossing in January. Being serviced next week and I have put this on the list to discuss. If you want to purchase a new 'piece of plastic', then be prepared to pay about $250! Certainly agree with LRD414 that it does not look too bad without it anyway.

I'm into a pre-camping routine now .... 18"s on, Roof Racks on, front and back covers off!

I almost found out the hard way in my first (2009 MY10) D4 on it's first off-road trip on Fraser Is, when it (front cover) got ripped off in a 'little' wash-out incident .

The car side of it was damaged but the cover itself wasn't, so when I got the car repaired I ended up with a spare.

I've hung on to it as it never occurred to me that LR may change the shape of the front end. So I wonder if it even fits my MY13 ..... LOL!!!

Does it say in the handbook to remove the cover for off road work? I can't remember but there isn't a whole lot of anything holding it on so deep soft sand or water could potentially damage it or rip it off.

I took mine off around 3 years ago in prep for an off-roading adventure; forgot to put it back, then the next trip came along....
Still haven't put it back to be honest.
Did see a spare one lying on ground in the VHC once (on Mt Terrible)!!!

For $250 you would get the rest of the plastic it fits too plus the fog lights from any of us that have fitted a bar

I don't know about losing one but what a PITA to try and get them off once submerged in mud!
