    Wading/Fording height

Just been doing some reading. A standard Defender/110 is supposed to have an unprepared fording height of 500mm.
That 500mm line is stenciled on the fuel tank.
The Perentie is supposed to be lifted 50mm or so from a normal 110.
would that not raise that fording height to around 550 or did the army keep it at 500 for some extra safety?

I just measured mine and the top of the line is 530mm from the ground.
I just had new suspension fitted, and I'm trying to work out if they've fitted a 3" lift instead of a 2" lift kit.
because 3" would be illegal here in QLD.

Do this and let us know:

    Ride Height
The best way to measure your lift is to measure your spring heights with the vehicle parked on level ground, measure from top to bottom of the rear of the front spring, and the same for the rear spring, with quality springs you will find that the drivers side is always slightly taller.

    STD 90/110 FRONT SPRING measures 260mm +/- 5 mm
The REAR SPRING should be around 300 mm +/- 10mm

STD Disco/RRc FRONT SPRING measures 250 mm +/- 5 mm
The REAR SPRING should be around 300 mm +/- 10mm

These measurements are what i have taken over the years to calculate what lift you have got or haven't got.

From the standard measurements you can calculate what lift you have got.

Hope this will help what you need.

Mine is 300 front and 350 rear

    Thanks.
    Just pull the receipt out.

    KLRR-04 Rear

    According to their website,
those are raised coils for the County Diesel 84-91 so that part seems to be
correct. Pity is doesn't say what it's supposed to raise them by.

It just seems really high now. Much higher than a 2" lift which is all that is allowed in QLD without a compliance place.

It doesn't look that high to me but looks a little nose -up. Maybe swap for the heavier front bar and call it a day? I believe the king raised fronts have a bit of a reputation for compensating for the Isuzu weight a little too much.

When you put on new springs they usually sit a little higher initially until they bed in. This is normal. I had those on my 110 and they were about 2" lift.

The Perentie is a little lighter, combine that with the bed in and you're higher than expected. How is your steering?

First thing I noticed when I got it done was it's nose in the air!
My mechanic reckons the springs should settle over a month or two of driving.
The heavy bar is on my (long) wish list. If anyone has one going cheap in Brisbane let me know!

Good thing I don't do any towing, she'd be doing stands on the back wheels.

I have a day off tomorrow, so I'm going to take a whole heap of measurements, post em up here and hopefully get some people to do the same so I can work out where it's at.
I hate for the insurance to be invalid because it's too high, or for the T/C to get damaged because of the driveshaft angle - Apparently over 2", depending on the car is where you start needing double Carden drive shafts.

Hi Chris , sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings but it is an easy mistake & I trust it's not too much of a surprise for your "ticker".

From what you tell us you have fitted Kings LR County s/w "raised" rear springs - that's why it looks low and I'm sorry to tell you IMO it won't improve.

If you want raised Kings rears on a Perentie I think you should have KLRR05 which are listed in the catalogue for raised utes of the Perentie era and later raised Defenders.

KLRR04 is for the County s/w of that era - (the Perentie doesn't have the Boge unit that was ome on the County s/w). The catalogue is of little assistance in this regard, I think it needs a bit of red ink to draw attention to the situation.

Did the shop or Kings advise you about this? If so maybe they'd part exchange ?

Anyway - it is easily rectified & I genuinely hope that you are feeling better soon, now that you're out of hospital (been there done that)

I just checked my notes, and both those springs are underrated for the Perentie.
