    Temporary wheel loan

Does anyone in Melbourne have a spare set of balanced roadworthy rims and tyres they'd be willing to lend me for a few days to a week to run on my car and work out once and for all whether I have a wheel/tyre or driveline issue causing Roger's shudder?

    Thanks in advance

Or if someone going from Sydney to Melbourne can take Dean's wheel down. I have it at my place but can deliver it in Sydney.

Noisy is fine, as long as they're balanced!

    Hey mate,
After reading this thread I went and stalked your other threads...😬
I have a d4 with 180000 that suffers from the same few issues you have had.
Front right squelching mystery, I would call it a shimmy, in the steering wheel. I've been told everything in the front end is fine and have replaced LCA, tie ends, had 3 different sets of wheels on it, and so on.

Interesting thing is, I had a new disco as a loan car the other day.... First thing I did was look for the shimmy. It was there!!! Much more subdued but definitely there.

So I'm left baffled. I think that it must not just be one thing that is causing the problem. Must be just everything getting old and lose. everything I replace seems to help a little bit. Next is shocks but based on your post I don't think that will give the result I want.

Look forward to your wheel test but I hate to say I do t think it will do anything g other than rule out wheels.

If it's just one wheel without a tyre I should be able to fit it in my car. Heading back to Melbourne from Castle Hill Tuesday morning (26 July).

    That's very... encouraging??? :P
You're right about everything helping a bit. I can't help feeling something that didn't appear til 180000 should be fixable? Let me know if you have any joy
