Turbo Timer Conundrum

Recent chages to the Qld road rules, seem to make a Turbo Timer a problem: 8O

the law has basically made it illegal to leave a vehicle running for some time in most states, it's just one of those things really. Mind you, if turbos needed timers, they would have them, but that's just my opinion. I also think that it can't hurt :wink:

Or the vehicle handbook would indicate that after some high rev work the car should be allowed to idle down for a few minutes - so it seems that timers while not a necessity are a way of meeting your handbook requirements.

If the coppers and the courts did their jobs properly instead of rewarding car thieves then these laws would not be needed. Most of these have been propogated by the insurance companies.
Even with a turbo timer I would not leave the vehicle until it had shut down and was in gear. Runaways are not a pretty sight and you could be liable. This pretty much eliminates the need for a turbo timer, just idle for a couple of minutes if the engine has been working hard.

Not an issue with an auto :wink:

30 secs or a min and even a good thief wouldn't get too far, plus with the correct timer the full security system is armed from the moment the doors are locked, the fuel/engine imobilliser cuts in as soon as the timer stops.

Plus what fun is there in stealing a diesel auto when the car park is full of V8 dunnydores and Falcoons. :wink:

To be honest... the thing that worries me most about turbo timers is not the cops catching you, but leaving the car with just the handbrake on! I thought LR handbrakes were like all English handbrakes... decidedly dodgy! [img]style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif[/img]

I have three cars, and all of them have suspect handbrakes :roll: :roll: :roll:

I'v never had a problem with the handbrake on any of the 4 Land/Range Rovers I've owned. They work very well.
