Rear tailgate lights when open

Hi everyone
Help me how do I turn on the 2 lights that are on the very bottom of the back tailgate top .

I guess they are there to help eliminate the back ground behind the vehicle

I think you mean the number plate lights. These should be always on with the headlights or parker lights to illuminate the plate. This is not an optional setting so you may have a fault.
