late model ARB bars?
I'm looking at improving my set up, and seeking examples to use as guides.

I'm purchasing an APT unit as well, as my Terrafirma doesn't allow access to the eyes due to interference with the bull bar.
I've just found a solid, fit for purpose mounting point on either side of the bar which allows rated D shackles to fit. There's a fair bit of play, but it will suffice until I purchase the APT protector to hang my shackles from. (Attached photo from someone else's Defender with ARB bar.)

Integrated tow point - if you need a tow that to me is a recovery
I have a strong dislike for dynamic recoveries and havent owned a dynamic strap for >10 years - so for me when I think recovery I think slow and steady as little load applied as possible.
And soooo I sure as heck would use (and have used) the integrated tow point that Baytown has pictured.

This has been done to death on another thread.
Fundamentally the deluxe ARB B'Bar does not have any recovery points, that's why I and others have fitted an APT with integrated recovery point......Oh and it does a great job of protecting the steering arms!

						I have spoken directly with ARB on this matter and was informed by the engineer that this point as shown in the photo above is not rated and is for 'static' recovery situations only, no 'dynamic' recovery whatsoever.

My deluxe bar is held on with six m10 bolts in shear across vertical and horizontal planes
There are no crush cans
The tow points are directly in line with the chassis
So a single 8.8 m10 has an ultimate tensile shear at 46kN
A 12ooolb winch at stall can exert give or take 54kN
Six m10 won't be the problem for max winch pull
The rest of the design is so much nicer than my old tjm which I double line pulled off relentlessly

I will use the tow points X 2 on either side of the bar should I need to be recovered, hopefully without snatching.
I will prioritise the APT steering guard with tow eyes ASAP for snatching etc. I have rarely needed to be towed, and don't play in mud, so it's not a common occurrence.
I've seen some great tow points on tubular bull bars with dedicated swivel shackle mounts. I wish ARB had thought of that, or I had purchased the tubular bars. They just look right on a Defender!
I wonder if I could mount 2 tow hooks under the truck with the ARB bar insitu without interference?
