    Paddle shift for 6 speed SDV6 D4

I'm keen to do this mod on my D4 but am a little unsure of what is required. I've seen quite a bit of reference to it being done, but conflicting information about what is required to get it done and what parts are required.

From what i can gather a new cowling is required for the back of the steering wheel but this is not a seperate part so most people just replace the wheel with either a RR Sport of later model D4 one? I had read that later model D4's have a different loom and connectors for the wheel so maybe a RR sport one is the only option? If this is the case, makes finding a second hand paddle shift wheel even harder.

My existing wheel seems to have blanks where the paddles would be - I've not had a close look but assume that all others are the same and I can't just remove these and it will be compatible?

Then there is the matter of getting the paddles. Most second hand wheels don't seem to come these.

And finally, how to enable? I've read that using IID tool there is a beta function to do this which involves flashing transmission ecu. I've got a nanocom evo, and on the nanocom forum it indirectly mentions changing the CCF file and that is all. Can anyone clarify?

Sorry to bust ya thread but this raises a question for me.

How many people really use the paddle shift ❓

I hate the bloody thing, always touching it by accident, I'm not a bloody formula driver and the vehicle isn't a formula vehicle. I think this is a big gimmick.

I can see the use of it off road being able to hold a gear but wouldn't a button near the gear selector suffice ❓

Towing is another story is anyone using this function towing ❓

Sorry for the high jack, just beats me why you would want to pour dollars into something so trivia.

    I stand to be corrected

This is the primary purpose for me - off road. Spirited on road driving is a bonus.

I have the backing plate, paddles and wiring available.

Do you have access to a GAP IID?

Very interested then. Only have Nanocom currently, I'm sure i could find someone in Melbourne with a GAP IID who could help with enouth liquid persuasion. Are they locked down to VIN like the Nanocom?
