Hand Brake Noise & Losing Power after Fraser Island

Hi, I encounter a problem with hand brake and it made a strange noise after Fraser Island. RACQ crew thinks something relate the sand in disc brake, then I drove to Sunshine coast dealership, the service guy recon 9 out 10 are faulty hand brake mechanism without checking it. Then, I have to drive all the way home to Melbourne without using hand brake. It will be another few weeks before Melbourne Land Rover can have a look it.

Another problem with early D4, there weren't much feeling on power after Fraser, lost usual engine noise. would it be the problem with water get into fuel injector?

    Thanks for your opinions!

    Cheers,
    Gary

First step is to clean and adjust the handbrake. Blow out with air through the hole in the brake drum. Usually needs to be done after driving in dusty or muddy conditions. Adjust as per "Bodsys Brake Bible" on "Disco3.Co.UK"
May be all that is needed.

    Cheers,

Is the early D4 the one that had suspension problems after driving into a deep hole in a river? I assume it is not yours.

    Does he have a snorkel?

Does he have error messages and restricted performance message?

What mode were you in? What range? And were you remembering to turn off DSC every time you restarted or changed modes?

What tyre pressure were you running?

    How loaded was the vehicle?

    Were you in Sport mode?

I wouldnt use the EPB until you can take the rear disks off and clean out the drum and then adjust the brake. As mentioned bodsys brake bible is awesome.

If the mechanism jams it is a real pain to undo. Dont ask how i know Hand Brake Noise & Losing Power after Fraser Island

The D4 does have a snorkel. Only error message after that was "can not raise height due to high temperature", that was about about half hour driving on soft sand.

I assumed that you are asking the other early D4 with suspension fault and losing power.

Are You thinking of if the wheel could be spinning too much and caused over heating? But this only happen after dropping into the creek.

    Cheers,
    Gary

Not exactly sure what your handbrake problem is from the description, but mine makes a squeak noise when put on/off. I thought it was something simple like an actuator arm needing a bit of lube, but apparently it is in the motor itself. Replacement one arrived the other day.
    Cheers, Mungus.
