    Firewall alternative for running cable.

    Hey all,

The hole most of us have used to run cable through to the cabin on my D4 has reached it's capacity.

Is there any other free gromits someone has found? I've poked around but can't find anything.

    Cheers

    Russ

I've asked a few times on the forum and never got a positive response. Seems crazy that there's not something behind the glove box.
Are you able to rationalise your wiring at all?

    Hmm not really.

Next up is a switch for driving lights, can't join that into anything, antenna coaxial cable, traxide wiring, trailer brakes all adds up quick...

I think there is something behind glovebox but it's difficult to reach, requiring battery and fusebox removal or something to that effect and perhaps needing to get behind glovebox fusebox too. I did read of it ages ago. I reckon the remote fob switch would be my go to.

Pretty sure you can't go just drilling holes through the firewall lol.

I'm sorry, but why? A 10mm hole is not exactly going to affect the structural integrity? A hole directly next to the existing hole, which has been rust treated and uses a grommet isn't going to harm anything.

Another hole should be OK Russ, make sure its where you wont drill into anything.Make it big enough for futher use and make sure you get the correct size grommet.I would paint the exposed steel too.
