    Death wobbles- fixed!!

My 4x4 Perentie developed the dreaded wobbles.
It happened at about 80km/HR after a bump in the road. Almost uncontrollable left to right violent wobble. It only stopped when speed dropped to below about 40km/h.
Did it to me twice last weekend.

After reading up here I decided that swivel pre load was a likely culprit.
Checked the passenger side first and found almost zero pre load with the steering arms disconnected.
Removed shims and set the preload at 15 lbs as suggested. Checked the driver's side and found it to be correct.

Test drive on the same road that started the wobbles last weekend, over the same bump at the same speed and no more wobbles!!!!

Thanks to AULRO and all those that contribute!

    Regards
    Phil B

You have done what I encourage everyone to do - let us know when something worked! (Equally useful to know when something doesn't)

I believe in giving compliments when they are due, this time they definitely were!!

You are not wrong. Not something I'd like anybody else to experience, especially when preload is so easy to check, maybe as part of a service schedule.
    Regards and thanks
