    Series 2 Disco piston

    Hi
Driving on New Years Day down the south coast of NSW in our series 2 disco td5. 45 degrees outside. Everything's going great, then all of a sudden a loud tapping noise coming from under the bonnet and loss of power. Now waiting for it to be towed to Sydney, but a couple of blokes who have looked at it say it may be a piston. Anyone have any idea on cost for something like this? I imagine I'll be ringing the bank manager on Monday morning to pay for it. Any helpful comments would be appreciated.
    Thx. Mick.

how many km on the engine?and it could be in the valve train or injector failure as they are mechanical operated and where are you taking it for repairs?

157,000 klms. It's coming up from Ulladulla on Monday to a place at Kirrawee. His experience with the TD5's is that he has not had many in due to their reliability.

Thanks Stevo, will post when I have a better idea as to the problem. At first we hoped it might have been bad diesel, but no such luck.
