Central locking drivers door issue

Hi All,

I have come to pickyour brains. I ave a MY11 disco 4 HSE SDV6. after a fantastic trip to the simpson dsert and beyond i started to have trouble with my central locking. it appears the drivers door when it feels like it MAY lock, but mostly wont. I get an audible double beep of the horn like there is a door ajar but it is not as immediate like when you do have a door ajar. The indicators dont flash and the mirros dont fold in like usual. Another sympton, when I drive away the doors automatically lock, (hmm forgot to check whether the drivers door does internally, will check that and come back to you) but when i open the drivers door it does not unlock the other doors as usual.

I guess im wondering if any others have suffered the same. I have read a bit of the manual, but before ripping my door trim apart and losing a dozen clips iwanted to quiz you guys. thanks in advance for all the support.......or the sound of circkets, whatever i get!

It sounds similar to mine when my door actuator stopped working, it was on my font passenger side, but the same symptoms pretty much.

I pulled mine out and fixed it to keep it going until the new part arrived, the new part is still in the drawer 3 years on.

It is a fiddly job particularly if you have big hands and arms, it is what I imagine keyhole surgery would be like.

Thanks for the replies. I have nutted it out, possibly thinking a little to hard to notice the obvious, it appears that the cable or mechanism has gotten sticky/dirty/stiff and need free'ing up. when I hit the internal lock button it is trying to lock the front door but won't fully lock, this explain why when I open the front door internally the other doors won't unlock automatically. My wife can now stop blaming the 4 year old for relocating the door. poor bugger.
SO I guess I just need to pull the whole door trim off and access the cable for some dry lube or something of the like.

Many of the lock mechanisms get dirty motor contacts as I've seen in previous threads. If it is you can pull the motors apart and clean the contacts and lube. Alternatively you can also buy the motors and repair it yourself instead of a whole mechanism.

I have this exact issue currently with my front drivers door. I know this was a while ago but did you end up replacing the door mechanism or replace the actuator? I would love to be able to lock my drivers door again. The others are locking just fine but the drivers door is sticking as described above. If you open it the alarm goes off much to my wife's annoyance.

Did my rear door actuator today
The replacement was only possible for me with removing exterior door handle then internal mechcanism
Connecting pull cable from door handle mech to actuator first, then installing both together.

My front drivers has stopped locking with the actuator as of today. Yay, just what I wanted my weekend to consist of.
