    Sonic,
I put my 96 V8 on gas a couple of months ago. Have scuba tanks. $2,420.00.
Was quoted $4,000.00 for under tanks and a small fuel tank. That is in Qld. Your quote seems reasonable compared with up here.
Some operators up here are charging up nto $7,000 because of the current demand.
    Good luck.

At that price, i would be considering how long i will be keeping the car for before outlaying any hard earns- that is half the value of a 94 V8 disco.

totally agree.. for $4500 I would sell the V8, buy a tidy diesel.. and do a few pump mods..
and you might even have spare change to fill her up with a full tank

People seem to be under the misconception that the change in excise will happen all at once overnight. Not the case.

John Howard knows he couldn't dodge that many p'd off taxi drivers!

Excise will be applied beginning in July 2008 and will occur at the rate of 2.5 cents/litre per annum until it reaches a maximum of 12.5 cents/litre in 2012.

Another thing to consider is that the price relationship may change if the supply/demand balance changes.
Look at what has happened to diesel. Because Europe and China are demanding a greater volume , the price relationship vs petrol has changed.
At the moment LPG seems cheap even if you discount the excise eg unleaded 1.20+ - 39c excise=79c. LPG 50c??. even accounting for 20% less calorific value it is cheap.

With the rush to LPG , I do not know what the demand/supply balance is and whether the local supply will be all used by the market in the next few years.

In the longer run, all energy should equalise according to its calorific value. The LPG price advantage is artificial, just like in Europe with diesel, where excise is less but rego for diesel cars is much more expensive in Germany anyway , to encourage high milers to use diesel.

Not at all - I am a licensed shooter, and look how we get treated. The difference is that the Government has succeeded with its shallow, vote grabbing legislation because of the relatively small number of people jumping up and down while the rest of the population remains ignorant. They will have no such luck if they buggarise around with EVERONE's fuel prices too much.

Informedly distrustful I am I am. I do not like green eggs and ham.

    Hi Pete
My Bro has a mate in Rockingham
Spencer,at Drivesafe Autogas. He is a top operator and its his own bussiness.Tell him Andy with the Landys from Williams put you on to him
In your introduction you said you didnt know whether your Disco was a series 1 or 2.From previous posts on hear I think there is an issue with the EFI system electronics in converting the Ser2 to LPG.Others may be able to help.
The easiest way for you to tell if its a Ser1 or 2 is look at the rear lights, the Ser 1 are on the bumper/corner of the gaurds, the Ser2 are on the bumper and higher up on the roof support panel level with the window glass.
