Rangie let me down for the 1st time ever tonight

Pulled up at the Servo because petrol was cheap (well as cheap as it can be these days - $1.16/L for premium) so i filled the tank 95L ready for the trip to Landcruiser on Friday. After paying and starting the car I begin to drive off and the engine just stalls???? So i roll out of the way and try to start the car, starter motor turning engine but it just wouldn't start So I pull out the mag light check all the leads check if i'm getting spark and all is ok. So we call RACQ to arrange for some grease jockey that has know idea about landy's to come out and check things like injectors and we find out that when I bought the Rangie 2 years ago and had it added to our roadside assist that it wasn't done so we had to pay an extra $60 to have the car added and a mechanic sent out. We wait 15mins and a guys come out and he's so confident that he knows what hes doing in the end he decided that banging the fuel tank with a rubber mallet might make all the difference - well it didn't so he called a tow truck. we wait another 1.5hous for the tow truck to arrive because the truck that they first sent had its enging blow up! so when the tow truck go there we had the car towed to Ricks 4WD and I reckon the fuel pump is stuffed!!!

The only good news is on arriving home at 9.45pm that I found the warranty that I purchased with the car covers Fuel pumps for up to $750. Just hope that I can get it done before Friday 8O 8O 8O

I guess if you are getting spark, then the computer and most electrics are working, which is a bloody good sign for a Rangie.
If you are correct in saying just the fuel pump is gone, then that would be a blessing. Quick to fix, and nothing detrimental, like an engine, or electrical gremlins.

Well i hope that's the case - I'll be really peeved if they have to drain the fuel from the tank cos it just cost me $110 to fill.

Its should be ok with the fuel most will drain it through a filter to a drum and then filter it back again so you should loose there hopefully. Please inform of what the problem was found to be once its rectified ill be very interested being myself a V8 owner.
You never know it might not be the engine but a bad batch of fuel.

in my disco, all u do is pull the carpet up, undo the fuel tank inspection panel and then undo the fuel pump/sender assembly, no need to drain the petrol, pretty easy job. Not sure about rangie's though.

will keep you posted - i'll be down at Rick's tomorrow at 7.30 am to get the problem fixed (no car = no work in real estate)

It was a very sad sight seeing my baby on the back of a tow truck
