Optima battery date of manufacture - anyone help decipher these numbers for me please

Hi there, just wondering if you could tell me how to figure out the date of manufacture of two Yellow Tops I just bought. I'm not sure how much stock this particular shop moves and wanted to make sure I hadn't bought a couple of very old batteries that had been sitting on the shelf for ages.

    Both are yellow tops.

One is a D34 (model number 8012-254, part number 812 254 0008882) and the barcode sticker on the side reads 7041403955.

Other is a D34/78 (model number D34/78, part number 8014-045) and the barcode sticker on the side reads 7175402799.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Haha woohoo I got a vintage one! Maybe that's why he gave me a good deal, I got the two of them for a cool $600 which I thought was pretty reasonable. Oh btw Roverlord I think I need to order some parts from you for an upcoming trip...starting with a rear drivers side mudflap (I think that's the one)

AFAIK the built date in that barcode is hidden in the first 4 digits, the first digit of the code is the last number of the MY and the next 3 digits are the number of the day from the year, so for 7041.... 7 = 2017 and 041 = 41'th day of the year = february 10
based on that both your batteries are quite new
    Discovery Td5 (2000), manual, tuned

That's what I was thinking, surely they can't be much older than that can they with a 7 in the barcode?!
