    What next?

My old outboard expired and so I have had a new 40hp outboard fitted. Here is my problem. The boat wants to turn right. I adjusted the trim tab to half deflection but it still turns right but not as much. I readjusted trim to full deflection but the boat still wants to turn right although it no longer wants to rip my left arm off. The motor was fitted by a reputable marine dealer. So where do I go from here? It is quite usable now but it would be nice to have neutral steering. Jim

More so on higher powered rigs but if the leg is buried it will pull strboard due to torque
Is the 40 bolted to transom or clamped
On the plane can you clearly see the anti ventilation plate?

If bolted lifting it a hole or two is easy
    If clamped slightly more complex

Motor is bolted through transom. It seems if I play with the trim it fixes the problem.

    Trailer on flat ground
Jockey wheel chocked so has some thread length
Tilt motor down and support skeg onto timber’s
Now loosen bolts - remove the fixed hole bolts but leave the slide bolts in-situ
Crank jockey wheel down - lifting bow - driving hull at stern down
Insert bolts with silastic and voila!

Thanks for idea. I spoke to the Marine shop and it was suggested that I use the trim whilst running on the plane. Works ok if I lift the motor slightly. When I am in 8 knot area I drop motor fully. I might go with this for a while and see if it works out. Maybe lift motor at a later time.
