Privacy glass on Defender

When I ordered my defender 110 (2016) I took the privacy glass optional extra
...only to day while cleaning the windows I note the tinted glass is only in the two rear passenger windows and the rear cargo sliding window ......the two front passenger windows
the rear door and windscreen are plain glass .......funny never noticed that before

can understand the windscreen ....but thought the front passenger windows and door might have been included .......I know it’s strange I never actually noticed before ...but the light on the window was just right to show this up clearly today

from anyone one who ordered this option .....did I get the full deal ...or as my car was one of the last off the line did Landriver miss a few windows ??

Because it doesn’t meet our laws on the front glass.

Interestingly, it also doesn’t stop UV either, it’s just dark glass.

Hence why some tint is a good proposition.

Isn't the tinting limit here 35% light, or have I got that wrong?

So the front passenger windows and back door and wind screen screen could be locally tinted to meet our laws ...right ?

Yup! And you’ll get heat rejection through that glass too.

Subaru privacy glass used to not include the 2 front doors either.I think some other countries aren't allowed any tint on front doors at all so it's a blanket package world wide.

I got the other 3 done to match with regular tint and the privacy glass is heaps better. It's actually in the glass so will never scratch, bubble or fade and is clearer to look through. And even though I got mine done at a reputable place and they did a pretty good job you can clearly tell its an add on. I thought the whole black pack was a bargain but even if you optioned it for the $600 they were asking, it is still well worth it. And good luck finding someone willing to do the alpine windows with film too.

As said Sean,

The only problem is privacy glass is just “dark glass”.

It has Zero heat rejecting properties, and doesn’t filter UVA or UVB either so doesn’t protect occupants or interior trim.

Proper tint is seamless, shouldn’t be noticeable or blurry, and will reject IR and UV. So it will protect your trim and people.
