    defender 300TDI wiring diagram

G'day peoples, yesterday my beasty decided to loose power to the fuel shutoff solenoid,
luckily i was able to get it off the road (no engine - no power steering etc, lucky for momentum)
after finding what the problem was i hot wired a bypass to the fuel solenoid & was able to make it back home,
what i am after is wiring diagram so i can find out,
    1. is there a relay & location?
    2. is there a fuse & location?
3, where the wiring comes from so i can trace it back & find the fault to repair it correctly

    thanks in advance
    Waz

    Solenoid power

I've had this problem myself, just outside our front gate so a tow-in was easy with our Disco. The wire that brings power to the solenoid had open-circuited right at the terminal crimp connector. They get a fair shaking in the good ol' smooth idling 300TDi. So I'd suggest using a circuit tester on that wire a centimetre or two back from the connector with the "ignition" switched on. If that's the problem, replace the crimp connector. Slip a bit of heat shrink over the cable before you crimp the new connector to reduce the risk of it failing again.
    Trust this helps, Rob S

    Wiring diagram

Check out this website. It's in Columbia and although it's mostly in Spanish, it's very easy to navigate around. It contains a whole host of Land Rover manuals. You should find one on wiring diagrams.

checked approx 1 inch back after stripping both insulations form wire, 0.422vdc thinking possibly burnt contact tips on relay (if it has one) or fractured wire somewhere,,, still chasing it, but Thanks for the input

    Awesome!
I have no interest in Defenders, but are there electrical diagrams of this calibre available for the D1(300 Tdi here) too?
    Arthur.

All these discos are giving me a heart attack!

AK83, I suggest you get a RAVE CD from the shop. Top line, above.

    Or RAVE I CD

g'day Don, wrong schematic, that's the same as one of the ones listed before,
mine does not have an ECU or EGR,
i have even tried looking at the 200TDI schematic (just in case) and it is also different to mine,
but thanks for the help & your time kind regards

    Fuel solenoid wiring

Hi Waz, just been looking at electrical wiring diagrams in my Defender Workshop Manual.

It seems the solenoid feeds directly from the key [white/orange] to the ignition switch connector and from the same side of that connector [white] to the engine compartment harness connector and the directly [white] to the solenoid. I don't know where the engine harness connector is located.

I have read that the Rave CD mentioned above is a much better reference than the Manual for wiring diagrams, but I had already spent my $$$ on the Manual.

    Cheers, Nigel
