ABS, Traction Control and Handbrake Lights won't go off

Morning all,

Started Monty up on Saturday morning and noticed when I started to move away that the ABS, Handbrake and TC lights all remained on. I tried shut down and restart - no biscuits.

I haven't tried to see if the ABS and TC still work.

I checked the Scangauge II and there were no fault codes and none pending either. I thought this 'Three Amigos' quirk was a Disco issue?

Anyone with any suggestions as to what to check first? (and how to check it)

have you got the Scangauge permanently connected? I have had issues with the Ultragauge when doing some electrical work on the car similar to this, disconnect the gauge, restart and all Ok again

While its a common issue with a D2 it can also happen to a Defender.
Try to read the codes with something compatible with a Land Rover (If its a Td5 I am pretty sure a Scan guage wont get all codes as the car isnt full OBD11 compliant)
If you cant do that check the cables to the wheel sensors and reseat all the sensors with a screw driver and the heel of your hand (just knock them in)
It will be likely Shuttle Valves if it is they can be replaced with Discovery 2 ones.

Mine is a Puma (2008); do you know if the scangauge might still miss some codes?

Re Wheel sensors; where are these located? Assume I need to pull/ unscrew them, give them a clean and push them back in as a first test?

Our Defender had this after getting new rear brake pads and rotors. Turned out the sensor on the driver's side rear had been re-fitted too close to the rotor. Adjustment fixed it.
So I'd be checking the sensors.

I don't know the answer to that Tombie, I'd normally come to AULRO to ask such a question!

I guess that if it cannot, I need to plug into a diagnostic that can read it and clear the codes - I'll have a chat with Brad at KLR.

I havent had anything to do with Puma ABS so might be wrong although I do remember the early Puma had the same part numbers on most of the ABS components.
The rear sensors on a TD5 push in from the backing plate area just follow the wire you could clean them I guess I just knock them home.
IF it is something to do with the Shuttle Valves IF yours has Shuttle Valves have a look at RAVE and see what it says they are just a couple of switches that have certaiin values with switched in combination.

I think you’ll find the Scangauge only reads generic OBDII codes. The codes you need to read are LR specific for so you need an IIDTool or similar.

No doubt KLR can sort you out and are closer than I am, but I have an IIDTool that you can use on a Puma if needs be.
