    95 defender flat tray

    Hi all ........

Im thinking about buying a 94 or 95 defender flat tray , It's cheap so I'm buying it for the roof and back panel for the perentie .

I have a few questions tho , I assume that year has rear disk brakes ? Will they fit straight onto the perentie ?

Also, Is the front diff/axle housing the same as the perentie ...or at least will it be a straight swap over , Keeping my Ashcroft axles , stub axle and aeu2522 cv joints etc. ?
I assume drive shafts are different ?
Do they have belt drive power steering ?

Any idea what gearbox / transfer these have
    thanks all
    Luke

Hi Luke, The defender rear disc brakes if fitted to the one you have are a different design to the perentie ones but they will physically bolt on if you change the complete axle. The front diff has the same housing but I would be unbolting your one at the flange and putting the stronger county/perentie swivel housings on with the heavier internals. It would have either an lt77/lt230 or an r380/lt230. I think the driveshafts would have small differences in length but probably someone like JC could confirm that plus the PS query.
    Cheers......Brian

'94 - '95 are 300tdi. That means r380/lt230 and belt driven PAS. If you're thinking of adapting the PAS pump, don't bother; just get one that suits the 4BD1. The rear propshaft is the same length between LT95 and LT230 equipped vehicles, but the front propshafts are different. The easiest way to switch to rear discs is swap the whole axle assembly. Why do you want to change the front axle?
