Question on Rock Crawl mode using GOE lift rods

Hi All,
I’ll be doing a track in a few weeks which has lots of rock steps and can be challenging in spots, I will have the 17’s on with BFG muddies as well which will help. I haven’t mucked around too much with terrain response settings but am under the impression that rock crawl mode has the most aggressive traction settings for what I’ll be doing. I usually pop the GOE rods into the other hole to raise the suspension a bit, my main question is Will rock crawl mode automatically raise the suspension to off-road height? I think this may be too high with the rods in raised height and may make the disco a bit more unstable and harder suspension. It will in effect be super dooper extended height. Should I leave the rods in normal position and just let the rock crawl mode do it’s thing? Any other tips. Thanks.

Your assumptions are correct. If you expect to have enough clearance at factory off-road height then just use Rock Crawl without the rods. If that’s not enough clearance then the extra bounce at extended height will just have to be dealt with. I always try to use factory height settings and only add to that when required, which is very easy with Llams.

You just manually lower the suspension after selecting Rock Crawl if you have the rods. Not good to have both unless you want to have a temporary height increase at which time you can press the up button and use the extra height that the rods give you.

I would put the rods on and then lower the suspension to normal height when the TR automatically raises it. You will get a message warning you that you should be at off road height when you do that.

That sounds like a good idea Bob, I wasn’t sure if you could lower it again or if rock crawl locked it in raised height. I’ll do that and raise it to extended height temporarily if I run into clearance issues.

Yes you would and it will probably stay in access unless you exceed 8 or 10 kph.

To the original question, no rock crawl won’t raise the height. You have too. If you engage the rods then this simply means every factory setting is 50 mm higher and performs as per factory default.
But use the rods and experiment. You put them on. But using the rods AND off road height will raise the car significantly and you may ( will) loose wheel travel somewhat so you may find yourself popping wheels in the air as the car will be as stiff as a board. Have fun and if you remain sensible you shouldn’t have a drama either way.
Final thought. Engage the rods, Leave it in normal height ( as it will now be off road height) and then if you need to tweek it some more you can with a flick of a button rather than get out of the car in a perhaps unsafe situation to adjust rods. Youll be amazed how capable it is. Cheers Steve

When Rock Crawl is selected the vehicle automatically selects offroad height, unless it is already in offroad height. This function is inhibited if a trailer connection is detected. Hence if you have rods or Llams set to offroad height but the factory height is normal, the vehicle will raise at selection of Rock Crawl to the equivalent of Extended Height.

Scott, does it do it in both high and low range? I have a recollection of it only raising in low range, though I dont have mine near me to check.

Dan, Rock Crawl is only available when in low range.
