Cracked 18” alloy wheel. D3 HSE

    Hi all
We have cracked a rim in two spots
Tyre repairer says we can get them welded.
Does anyone have an opinion on this
    I’m a bit wary
As I think it would be impossible to replace with same what options are there for replacements?
would the likes of tyrepower or bob Jane have suitable rims or do I have to order the compmotive or Moab’s
    TIA

Check Gumtree and eBay, full sets come up fairly often.

I do not know about Victoria but welding cast wheels is dead set illegal in Qld. TMR passed this regulation some years ago to prevent unqualified welders patching up wheels. Now that every Tom, Dickhead, and Hairy has a TIG or a MIG this was a pretty astute move. A friend owned a highly regarded welding works and machine shop and made a pretty handy income from cracked and busted "mags". He reckoned they should have issued licences to properly qualified and equipped shops. TMR does not allow suspension and steering parts to be repaired by heating, bending, welding.

Hi, Sorry about your problems your best bet would be Triumpf Rover Spares in SA. Triumph Rover Spares - Triumph Rover Spares. They should have good used ones. Post a photo of the rim you are looking for and size someone may have one.
    I may have one.
    Good luck.

I’ve had this posted on the Market for a while. It’s still available but I’m in Sydney. Message me if it’s the right type and your interested. We might be able to work something out.

I would replace the rim, but if you do decide to have it repaired, then I would take it Eastern Wheel Works.
