The transfer case ecu is not sealed ex-factory.
Hi All
First timer doing Cape York in August so when mounting my LLAMS I mounted it as high as possible but even that’s not very high.
My question is - What is the lowest piece of electronics that will fry and immobilise the vehicle if water gets into it - if you are unlucky (or stupid) enough to get seriously swamped in a water crossing (Eg Nolans Brook)
Looks like the ECUs are sealed units but not sure what their IP rating would be.
cheers Harry.

D4's TCCM is mounted in the driver's side spare battery box in a black plastic enclosure that is open at the bottom for the connectors.

						Ok that's reasonably high then.
BTW the Gu ZD30 tcu is in the pass footwell..even lower than the ecu. It is a known failure point from water ingress ..a really stupid location with no protection at all😐. There are also many ingress points in the Nissan eg open bolt holes throughout the floor pan and firewall.
Gawd knows why they are so highly regarded🙄
I've told my son to fit a bilge pump😃
Perhaps I should clarify - I doubt I would be going through anything deeper that mid door level at the absolute most.
So if bogged for long the water may eventually get up to top of centre consule (Ie footwells flooded)
Any deeper than that and I will not risk it having learned my lesson when I swamped my D3 to just below the bottom of the door window about 10 years ago.

Probably becomes a statutory write-off in that situation.

It was in WA and not written off - insurance covered it because it was on a gazetted road.
Car was in fresh water - right side & nose down so the drivers footwell was flooded and the rear right passenger was about 100mm - luckily did not have to replace any electronics.
It was just a major cleanup, WD40 on all connectors, dry and lots of bicarb for weeks.
drove the car for about 6 years after the flood - still had a faint smell when it was humid / raining.
will not be doing that again!
