Split turbo hose - got some sage roadside advice

I'm currently towing the van and last friday between stops I noticed a whosshing noise from under the bonnet when on boost. Damn, I think I suspected .... and I was right. (no exhaust smoke or alarms or restricted performance at this time)
A 25mm long split started in the rubber hose (post intercooler) last bend before the intake at the electronic throttle body. It wasn't a game breaker - yet. But was prone to split a lot more without attention.
Old mate drives by and sees a Disco with his bonnet up on a lonely country road and turns around to impress the missus.
I was pleasantly surprised.
When I (cautiously) answered all of his questions he suggested I fold up multiple layers (maybe 10-12) of alfoil and place it as a bandage over the split (because any tapes with glue will let go due to heat and pressure) and tighten up a hose clamp over the wound. I didnt have a hose clamp of that size in the toolbag but there is one you can use nearby that couples the air filter box to the coupling pipe that goes to the turbo across the radiator.
The "fix" worked perfectly until I got a new hose overnighted (over the weekend) to the local post office by British Off Road - thanks Mitch!
Old mate told me he was an aircraft engine mechanic for a long time and this fix was used often on hot/cold charge air pipes in emergencies (not sure of the legalities of that statement).
Im sure I could have gone days with this fix in place if I needed to. I did use it normally for 2 days doing local trips but staying off boost.
I just thought I would share this little gem in case it helps a fellow Aulrovian one day. Alfoil and a suitably sized hose clamp or three. Who would have thought?
Does anyone else have some solutions for rubber pipe repairs they would care to share if someone looks here for an answer one day?

I always carry a roll of this in mine , works for temp repair of coolant hoses as well

Likewise, also called self amalgamating tape sold at Whitworths for the boaties and immensely handy.

The alfoil is a beaut trick also and cable ties would work which I carry in large numbers vs hose clamps

Plumbers do that a lot on leaking pipes on commercial buildings.Usually it is rubbish Chinese copper,that gets pin holes anywhere along its length.

They use a hose clamp with a bit of rubber under it,not alfoil.

I’ve used silicone tape from SCA, wrapped with gaffer tape to keep it all in place. That lasted about a week from memory.

I might have also used zip ties to hold it together until a replacement arrived from Mario. I’ll try to find a pic.
