    Headlight motor - FIX - 2006 TD5 Defender

So my right headlight adjusting motor was 'rattling' and not working. LHS ok. Seems others had the same problem.

The thingy is Swiss made - so I assumed it was carefully made. But it is a sealed unit. GBP60 in the UK is expensive.

I did not think it needs replacing, and...

    I did this:
-used a thin tenon saw to cut the heat sealed joint around 2mm deep only
-pried open the two parts and carefully disassembled
    >>This is the finest Swiss engineering and manufacture, really nice!<<
Root cause of problem: >>>the pink nylon mechanism had seized [the one in the photo between tools on the chook food drum and the mis-labelled metho bottle!] and the motor then unscrewed the shaft and thus it was not functioning. The 'rattling' noise was the motor doing laps without anything hitting the little stop switch to the side of the shaft. This has been malfunctioning for a long time, and cudos to the little motor for hanging in there all that time and to the nylon gears for not wearing out!
-cleaned the lot, greased with food grade grease
-Reassembled, note that everything simply fits, there are no screws, it all slots together beuatifully
-cleaned the saw cut interface with metho (Yes metho in the white spirit bottle!)
    -hot melt glued the thing
    Installed and works

    Time: 1 hr

Maybe you can tell me where I get the little fixing things that my finger is pointing to?
Also, is it normal for water to get into the LED indicator and lights? There is a small hole at the bottom, maybe that needs drilling and opening a bit to drain and ventilate?

Seems like a very clever solution!

You should be able to find the part numbers here for the plastic retainers.

I think the black round screws on the headlight protectors are part of that kit. Not seen them as a separate item.
