Alarm keeps going off - how to diagnose/what to check?

    ok,

damn alarm keeps going off randomly after locking... seems to be just random ... after an hour or so - some times less, sometimes more

Is there a way to check whats setting it off? or something I should look at?

    Appreciate any ideas

A common issue that gets reported is the bonnet switch. This can be bridged out to prove if that is, or isn’t the problem.

I had the same issue on my 3. Was the bonnet. A new lock mechanism fixed it. Guess the old one was worn and didn't hold the bonnet tight enough.

First time cleaned the bonnet switch contacts. Good for about a year. Second time bridged contacts with a paper clip. All good ever since.

It’s only the switch not the lock. You can cheaply replace the switch unit only or bridge the connector and forget.

Gotaflat it’s on the underneath of drivers side lock unit.

Had mine go off a few times even though bonnet switch bridged. I think mine is the rear RH door latch. Alarm hasn't gone off for a while but a couple of times I have closed that door but the dash shows door open. Door definately closed.

Damn it! Have probably jinxed myself now.

Does the door open even though you’ve locked the car? That’s another clue. I had the right rear do this several years ago but no others.

No door locks ok, just shows not closed once in a while.
