    Siphoning Fuel

Has anyone tried to siphon diesel out of the car into a jerry can or will inserting a small diameter hose trigger the misfuelling device? I have a long range tank and I'm thinking if I need to transfer some fuel to another car, will this be possible out in the bush?

Do you even have the misfuelling device with the long range tank? Mine does not have it as the filler has been replaced with a dual splitter to fill each tank individually.

Are you aware how far the hose will need to reach? It’s not likely to work.

If you have the dual filler and LRA tank you could open the drain plug Siphoning Fuel

Thanks all for the suggestions. Yes, I was thinking about being a guinea pig but right now I don't have a length of hose to test with.

I tried with my petrol D3 for the lawnmower and shoved a bloody long hose down until it hit something - sucked and while there was some petrol there it was not enough to siphon with. So even if you get past the misfuel device you may run into the same problem.

    Syphoning Fuel

I believe that the main fuel tank has a one way valve at the tank that would prevent a hose being inserted in to the tank.

ie fuel in but not out and a safety feature.

I am aware of this because when some work was carried out on the rear diff the LR Tank was removed and there was no fuel loss from the vehicle main tank which was full at the time.

I have a gravity feed LR tank with a hose between the LR tank and the main tank.

One filler pipe and the possibility of syphoning fuel from the LR tank exists.
