Fuel filler flap latch - DA1114

My wife managed to break the fuel filler flap latch on our D3 a little while ago as she couldnt figure out how to open it(yeah I know, dont ask...) Anyway after a bit of searching I found a kit DA1114 that contained all the parts to fix it. I've now gone through two of these and I havent had any luck getting them to work. I belive the bezel part on the flap itself is not right and it wont grab the latch blade - I can get it to work with the original parts held in place but no matter what I try the new one just wont work. So if you've busted this part:

then I'd recommend don't bother with the DA1114 kit. Im going to try and get my hands on the genuine part - ARV780020 and see how it goes

Mine has a problem occasionally since its body off where it sticks and won’t release. If I pull the flap on a corner then push it it releases. Slightly off topic to your issue, but thought I’d mention if anyone else has experienced this weirdness. Mechanism is obviously slightly off somehow

Replaced mine. As it wouldn't open or latch shut sometimes. Now opens fine but at times still doesn't latch closed.
Stand there like an idiot poking it with my finger hard /soft at different positions on the flap until it finally closes.
Bit like winning the lottery when it finally stays shut.

Yes, ARV780020 , this is an example where genuine will be good for another 10 years, another example is the rear tailgate assembly (the 3 parts) use genuine.

P.S when owners get stuck at a servo with a flap that wont open, use the side of your fist, a few quick thuds on it and it generally releases.

Fitted the genuine flap door latch piece last night, happy to say it now works as intended. Of course there's a video series on it as well - somehow over the course of several days as I was mucking around with this I managed 3 seperate videos. Lucky they are all short.

Dont forget to put a bit of graphite powder on the release tab
