Is the 3.0 TDV engine same as on the D4?

Does the Disco 5 3.0 TDV suffer engine failure like the D4 (up to 2015). Apparently not, so what has changed in that engine?

There were some that failed,a member on here had an engine fail, but i dont know if it was the crank.

On another note,a mechanic that worked at the Indie i used for many years, worked in the JLR warranty dept for a while.
He said there was always a steady stream of engine failures coming through.

    Tyres and rims

Help required please. I’m going to have to look at changing the rims and tyres on my new Disco 5 r-dynamic year 22, already 2 flats in the first weekend away travelling on dirt roads only. I was hesitant in upgrading my old D4 for this reason, although didn’t think it would be this big an issue.

Does anyone know if you can find hybrid and/or all terrain tyres for 21 inch rims ? Alternatively can I drop down to 19 inch rims and out say a coopers LTZ on - will this affect the rolling diametre and the air suspension?

    Thanks all,

    Cheers
    Dave

You can easily fit 20" or 19" rims from Land Rover. The 20" will give you many more tyre options. The most popular 20" option is 275/55R20 which is slightly taller but has no issues. You can also get Tuffant 18" rims which opens up a lot of possibilities.

Num thumbs, many thanks. Do you know if 275 all terrains on 20 inch rims on my22 d5 will rub ? Unfortunately it doesn’t look like the Tuffant have been tested on my 22 d5 yet. Any other rims ? besides Land Rover ones ? Thanks for your assistance. I think the offset can be a problem from the research I’ve been doing.

I suggest you join the Land Rover Discovery 5 Owners Group - Australia. There is a lot of information about tyres there. I am pretty sure some of the new owners are running 275/55R20 tyres. There may be some talk of Tuffants as well.
